It's About Time

I have been wanting to start a blog for quite some time now. Sydney is almost five months old and I'm having trouble remembering some of the feelings and thoughts I've had since she was born. So what better way to capture this than online for all of our friends and family to share. So here is a quick recap of the last few months...

Sydney was born March 11, 2008 at 9:59 a.m. at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY. She weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. My life changed at that very minute!

Sydney was born with a club foot. This was quite traumatic for me and Jason, but we later found out that some of the greatest athletes were born with a club foot...Mia Hamm, Troy Aikman, and Kristi Yamaguchi just to name a few. Sydney had casts on her feet since she was 10 days old until she was 2 months old. She had minor surgery on her left foot to straighten it out and now she wears special shoes with a bar to keep the correction.

Sydney started sleeping through the night very early on. By about 6 weeks, she had that sleeping thing down. So Jason and I don't really experience the sleepless nights too often that typical new parents do. I am knocking wood right now :)

Sydney makes it pretty clear to us when she needs something. She rubs her eyes when she's tired and sucks her finger when she's hungry. I've been told by others that most babies don't do that either :)

June 2nd was my first day back at work. I couldn't believe how fast 12 weeks had gone by! Many moms that I talked to couldn't wait to go back to work...Well, not me. I really wanted to stay home and hang out with my little girl all day. I did however, go back to work and things are working out great. Sydney's nana comes to our house every day to watch her while I'm working. The fact that Sydney is so well cared for made the transition back to work a lot easier!

Sydney loves to roll and can almost make her way across the room. She can almost sit up by herself and last night she ate rice cereal from a spoon for the first time! She truly amazes me every day with the stuff she does. So I will try to be diligent about keeping this updated with stories and pictures...so if you notice I'm slacking, please let me know ;)
